If your application requires a switch-activated Gear Motor Driven Reel, Conductix-Wampfler can fill the need. Conductix-Wampfler has decades of experience applying this type of reel to all sorts of industrial applications.
Gear-head reels are typically used:
- To raise and lower Push Button Pendants for cranes
- To provide access to portable power or light cables to be stored on ceiling or wall, where the cable end will be too high to reach;
- In locations such as aircraft hangers, factory production floors, maintenance areas, or warehouses.
There are two standard platforms: Styles 5159 and 5160.
Style 5159
The Style 5159 is a motorized pendant reel powered by a 1/3 HP reversible right-angle gear motor and chain-drive. Input voltage is 230/460 volts. The 5159 lets you:
- Stop the spool precisely; each reel is supplied with a motor brake
- Prevent damage to the cable, cable accessory, or reel ; each reel is equipped with adjustable limit switches to define up and down travel limits.
- Accommodate a wide range of cables. The standard range is from 4 to 36 conductors in 16 awg or 14 awg sizes, up to 100 feet long
Each reel comes with precision machine slip rings in a NEMA 4 enclosure. Each slip ring is rated up to 35 amps/600 volts. 5159 reels are available without cable, or with power cables or 400 Hz aircraft cables pre-installed.
Style 5160
The Style 5160 is a motorized pendant reel powered by a 115 volt reversible motor. The 5160 lets you:
- Prevent damage to the cable, cable accessory, or reel ; each reel is equipped with adjustable limit switches to define up and down travel limits.
- Accommodate 4, 6, or 8 conductor cables in 16, 14, or 12 awg, up to 100 feet long
Each reel comes with precision machine slip rings in a NEMA 1 (indoor) enclosure. Each slip ring is rated up to 20 amps/600 volts.
