Transit Conductor Rail Profiles

Conductix-Wampfler's standard conductor rail profiles are suitable for many popular power rail operating envelopes.  However, if you need a special profile, we can design and manufacture it.  Our aluminum power rail provides lower voltage drop and improved conductivity unmatched by out-moded steel conductor rails.  With our integrated stainless steel cap - crimped or welded - our rails provide wear characteristics that meet or exceed those of all-steel rails.

In the 1970's Conductix-Wampfler introduced the first aluminum rail with integrated stainless steel cap.  Since then, thousands of meters of stainless steel capped conductor bar have been installed in demanding applications all around the world.  Many well-known systems rely on Conductix-Wampfler conductor bar.  Click here for a partial list of Transit Project References.

Conductix-Wampfler understands that each transit application has unique operating requirements and constraints:
  • Installation Considerations: Our highly durable stainless steel capped aluminum rails weigh much less that comparable steel rails so require less labor to install.
  • Operating Considerations:  We have a complete range of conductor rail profiles from which to choose that will suit a wide range of operating envelopes and vehicle speeds.
  • Electrical Considerations: Operating voltage, peak current, and short-circuit demands must be met.
  • Environmental Considerations: Local climate conditions, enviromental contaminants, and conductor rail orientation must all be taken into account.
