Frequently asked questions
What is Crimped Cap Rail?
Crimped Cap Rail is a composite conductor rail combining an aluminum body for conductivity with a stainless-steel contact cap for durability and corrosion resistance. The stainless-steel contact cap is permanently and securely joined to the aluminum body by crimping aluminum tabs of the aluminum extrusion over the legs of the stainless-steel cap. Current capacities range from 1200 A to 4500 A with voltages to 750 VDC.
Where is Crimped Cap Rail typically used?
With current capacities of 1200 A and 4500 A , crimped cap rails are commonly used in light to medium duty transit systems such as LRTs, light metros, APMs and monorails.
What materials are used in Crimped Cap Rails?
The rail body is extruded from tempered 6000 series aluminum alloy for optimal conductivity and strength. The contact cap is made from 300 series stainless-steel for wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and durability.
Can Crimped Cap Rail be customized?
When practical, rail of other amperages can be provided to meet your project’s specific requirements.
