Automatic Reels

Automatic spring reels exert a permanent tension on the cable or hose, and the application’s movement provides the energy to wind and rewind the cable or hose. When the the cable or hose is pulled, the springs are tensioned. When the tension is released, the springs automatically rewind the cable or hose.

With adequate calculation of the required torque along the travel, automatic spring reels can be used on vertical applications, and on horizontal drag applications where the reel is fixed on the ground and must drag the cable to rewind it.

In foundry applications where the ground can be very hot, an exact calculation of the required torque will allow to keep the cable suspended over the ground.

Typical applications of automatic spring reels are foundry transfer cars, handling cranes, grabs, grips and magnets for overhead cranes, and attachments and sensors for telescopic mobile cranes. Our spring reels are also used in theatres, where they reliably feed power and data to movable lightbars and video walls: our reels excel in CAT6 Ethernet and Fiber Optics data transmission.
