Motor-Driven Reels
“Reliability” now and in the long run!Conductix-Wampfler Motor-Driven Reels are recognized worldwide as long-term reliable, even in very demanding and high-speed applications, and also in harsh, corrosive, dirty, low-maintenance environments where other reels are disadvantaged.
Motor-driven reels handle the heavy cables and hoses that continuously feed the biggest machines in ports, mines, and industry.
For higher than 100 kW applications, high voltage helps to reduce copper usage and limit C02 impact: Container Handling cranes and Bulk & Mining machines run up to 24 kV. Our simple and reliable H series of slip rings is appreciated by users worldwide in all climates and applications.
The heavy industry is improving machine efficiency through automation and remote controls. Both require a flawless, secure data stream from multiple high-resolution cameras and sensors, which fiber optics easily supports in the high-EMI environment of ports and steel or aluminum mills.
Our unique, patented, proven, super-reliable TFO (Transmitter Fiber Optics) with its elegant continuous fiber ribbon wound on itself, perfectly supports end-to-end Fiber Optics networks for the highest operations productivity.
Conductix-Wampfler motor-driven reeling systems are segmented into MAG Drive, SMART Drive, Level Wind Reels, Underground Reels, Trailing Cable Reels, Extension Reels, and Cable Protection Systems. Our motor-driven reels' modular and deeply configurable nature brings to your applications all the advantages of modern, systematic, and lean serial industrial manufacturing.
As quality and reliability start with the design, we use rules-based computerized design systems to offer you the configured motor-driven reel best adapted to your application within our fully industrialized range. And a finishing touch from our experts if required.
Conductix-Wampfler is committed to “Reliability” now and in the long run.

FAQs
Frequently asked questions
How do I choose the reel that best fits my application?
The easiest way is to contact the Conductix-Wampfler representative near you and provide him with the key parameters of your project: type of application, travel distance, speed and acceleration, height of the reel, power and data requirements, and possible voltage range. A knowledgeable salesperson will enter all those parameters in our computerized rules-based design system and advise you on the best proven solutions we can offer.
How can I save on cables?
Let’s share some tricks to save on cable :
- Increase the voltage to reduce the cross-section for the same power
- Select a solid and tested reeling cable from the Conductix-Wampfler supported range
Use a Conductix-Wampfler reeling system. Our MAG Drive and i-Drive ranges are renowned for smoothly handling cables and extending their lifetime.
- Add a TrenchGuard protection system to shield the cable from external harm
- If your application is a hoisting crane, add a battery stack to efficiently recover the hoisting energy
How long will my reel last?
Conductix-Wampfler reels are built to last—we encountered 40—or 50-year-old reels on-site, still performing to the satisfaction of their users. Our reels are designed to match the lifespan of your application and adhere to extended warranty schemes. We offer preventive maintenance and repair services to extend their lifetime.
Are Conductix-Wampfler reels cheap?
We are not after cheap reels: our main target is to ensure a long lifetime of both cable and reel and prevent breakdowns that disrupt your operations. If needed, we make our reels a little more costly upfront to meet this target.
This pays off in a few years, with a much lower cost of ownership and a more peaceful state of mind for everyone.
